After finishing the Skulduggery Pleasant series, I was looking for something just as good that would help me “get over” the ending of my favorite book series. And there it was- a new book by the same author, the beginning of a new series.
I was a bit sceptical, however. Would this book be as good as Skulduggery? But when I started reading Demon Road, it became clear really quickly that it was. The book drew me in with the very first page.
The book is about Amber. Amber is 16 when she finds out she’s not just human. The day she finds that out is also the day her (also not so human) parents try to kill her. And now she is on the run from them and her journey will take her and Milo all across the Demon Roads.
The whole setting reminds a bit of Supernatural (and a bit of Skulduggery Pleasant of course). A black car with a personality of its own (kind of) and driving across America on a mission with a supernatural origin. Paired with sarcasm and some shocking moments… genius.
I give this book 5 out of 5 possible gold stars and try to distract with other books until part two will be published in March 2016.
